Many manufacturers need colour mixers to homogenously mix their dry colour pigments with the raw material. If the colour is not properly mixed with the polymer to be used, the finished product could develop patches, differing shades in the finished product from the same batch, etc. As the success of any product depends on its quality, it is imperative for manufacturers to invest in colour mixers to deliver quality to their customers.

   Mixers can be either single barrel for small batches or double barrel for large batches.Mixers consist of one or two barrel as the case may be, which are attached to a pulley. The barrel assembly is placed on a stand. The stand has a place to mount the motor. The pulley of the motor and the pulley attached to the barrel(s) is connected using a rubber belt. On switching on the motor the barrel(s) turn thus mixing the resin and the pigment inside.

   Colour mixers are also used to mix other additives and speciality chemicals with the resin.
